Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation Fundraising Initiative Nets Elkhorn FFA Organization $6,100 for Its Education Program

The Nicholas D. Sergi (NDS) Foundation raised $6,100 for the Elkhorn Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization (Future Farmers of America) during a month-long campaign to honor the legacy of Sergi Farms Founder Nicholas “Nick” Sergi.

The NDS Foundation was established by the Sergi family in memory of their beloved Nick, who passed away in October 2018 at the age of 28. Sergi Farms continues operations, raising beef cattle in Elkhorn, WI, and delivering grass-finished beef throughout the Midwestern U.S.

March 28, 2020, would have been Nick’s 30th birthday, so the NDS Foundation wanted to honor his legacy with a campaign. For every beef box sold by Sergi Farms during March 2020, the NDS Foundation promised to donate $100 to the Elkhorn FFA Organization.

“It has always been important to the Sergi family and to the NDS Foundation that we honor Nick’s legacy,” Joe M Sergi said. “When it came to Nick’s 30th birthday, we knew we had to do something particularly special.”

The NDS Foundation’s goal was to sell 30 beef boxes throughout the month of March, which would help them reach a $3,000 donation to the Elkhorn FFA Organization. But their supporters gave double that amount.

“We’re overwhelmed with the support from our community, friends, and Sergi Farms customers,” Joe M Sergi said. “This response really shows the love for Nick and continued support of his legacy.”

Sergi Farms sold 61 beef boxes throughout the month of March, so the NDS Foundation will donate $6,100 for the Elkhorn FFA Organization its agricultural education programs, including the development of animal and plant science programming at the Elkhorn Agricultural Science department.

“This financial support will be used to provide a long-lasting learning impact for Elkhorn students as we invest in animal science training equipment and support the development of a land-based learning lab for students,” said Elkhorn FFA Leader David Kruse. “We are very excited about this support, financially and philosophically, and what it means to our organization.”

He added that the donation comes at an exciting time as the department adds a second agriculture teacher and the school district seeks to grow the quality and scope of the program.

The donation of more than $6,000 is another in a series of events and activities that have been facilitated by the Sergi family and the Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation. Activities range from helping to underwrite the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 130 people to donating more than 2,400 pounds of ground beef to help those less fortunate in Southeast Wisconsin. Additionally, the Foundation raised more than $100,000 for future donations at an event held in the fall and donated $75,000 to USO of Illinois to establish the Nicholas D. Sergi Reflection Room within the Quiet Wing at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

Many of these activities executed to help those less fortunate help fulfill plans that Nick had begun making prior to his death.

Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation Raising Funds for Elkhorn Future Farms of America (FFA) Agricultural Education Program

This March, for every beef box sold by Sergi Farms during March 2020, the Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation will donate $100 to the Future Farmers of America (FFA). The proceeds from this will benefit the Elkhorn FFA, as well as the development of animal and plant science programming at the Elkhorn Agricultural Science department. The NDS Foundation aims to reach a $3,000 donation to benefit the Elkhorn FFA and its agricultural education programs.

The donation will benefit students at the agricultural science program, who work to develop leadership, personal growth, and career success via agricultural education. The Elkhorn agricultural education programming reaches over 400 students in grades 7-12.

Projects planned for the Elkhorn FFA include a storage building, to be designed and built by EAHS students for animal equipment and outdoor lab supplies. In addition, the purchase of livestock gates will help to support other education outreach programs, all to be supported by the donation from the NDS Foundation.

This donation to the Future Farmers of America continues Nicholas D. Sergi’s mission, “giving makes you smile,” after his passing in October 2018. A self-starter, Nick’s success as a young owner-operator of Sergi Farms ended suddenly, but his desire to give and help others carry on in the NDS Foundation. Always ministering, Nicholas wanted to give and help others who needed it, wherever he could.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to support the organizations that Nicholas loved,” says Joe Sergi. “I couldn’t be happier to partner up with the FFA to celebrate Nicholas’ 30th birthday by supporting young farming enthusiasts!”

The Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation is proud to carry on the legacy of Nick’s giving heart through this Elkhorn FFA donation. In honor of Nick’s 30th birthday (March 28th), it’s the perfect time to celebrate his legacy. When you purchase a Beef Box, you’ll be supporting the ongoing education of future farmers through the NDS Foundation.

Family, Farm, and Faith Festival

The Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation: Family, Farm, and Faith Festival

Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 1 PM – 5 PM CDT
Walworth County Fairgrounds

The Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation was established by The Sergi Family in memory of their beloved Nick, who passed away on October 27, 2018, at the age of 28. While it was unexpected, it was undoubtedly with pure devotion and love that Nick answered his calling from God; joining Jesus and so many loved ones in Heaven. Although Nick’s time on this Earth was done, his work is not. Nick’s faith, spirit, and passion will continue to make a difference in this world through this foundation.

Nick accomplished so much at a young age, even becoming the sole Owner/Operator of Sergi Farms, LLC in Elkhorn, WI. He had many passions, like snowmobiling, hunting, dogs, America, anything with a motor, big belt buckles, cowboy boots, and skinny jeans. But by far, Nick’s greatest joys were his friends and family, farming, and faith.

The Nicholas D. Sergi Foundation “Family, Farm & Faith Festival” is a family-oriented event incorporating Nick’s true passions, while raising funds to support all the causes near and dear to his heart. Come enjoy lite bites, refreshing drinks, good music, activities for all ages, and of course a good time – all while helping the community and future generations to flourish.

SE Wisconsin Food Pantries are Beneficiaries of 1,200 LB Beef Donation from Sergi Farms

Chicago and Elkhorn, WI (January 2, 2019)—On behalf of Sergi Farms, to honor the memory and legacy of its founder, and to fulfill an earlier commitment made by Nicholas “Nick” Sergi, 1,200 pounds of beef are being donated to the Elkhorn Food Pantry in Southeast Wisconsin on January 4.

Upon receipt of the donation of the 1,200 pounds of beef, the Elkhorn Food Pantry will distribute the meat to additional food pantries throughout Southeast Wisconsin. According to the Elkhorn Food Pantry, the donation is expected to benefit more than 700 families, and thousands of individuals, throughout Southeast Wisconsin.

Nick Sergi, the founder of Sergi Farms, died following an accident in late October. Earlier that month, Nick had begun making arrangements with St. Patrick’s Church and the local food pantries to make that donation, to help those less fortunate.

The announcement was made by the Sergi Family, including Nick’s parents and his brothers who are executives at Chicago-based Clear Height Properties.

“The donation embraces the spirit of who Nick was, and how he lived his life, day-by-day,” said Dominic and JoAnn Sergi, Nick’s father and mother. “The words ‘Giving makes you smile’ were not just a line for Nick, they were a guidepost.”

Nick Sergi has been described as a deeply religious man, one who actively sought to help people and causes, in the groups that he joined and the individual interactions he had with people he encountered. He kept a Bible in his backpack, prepared to minister to those in need; always helping, but never preaching.

Sergi Farms was the outgrowth of Nick Sergi’s passion for the land and animals which inspired him to create a humane and healthy approach to producing delicious, nutritious beef. On the company’s website, Nick is quoted as saying, “We set ourselves apart from the rest based on the level of hard work and pride we put into our products every day. Everything we produce, we believe in.”

The Sergi family also announced that Sergi Farms will continue its operations, another testament to the legacy Nick leaves behind. In a relatively short period of time, Sergi Farms achieved considerable success. The farm started out with a respectful size herd and number of pastured acres in 2013. In February 2017, Sergi Farms expanded with the acquisition of a 143-acre parcel where it established a new home.

The expanded land gave Sergi Farms the opportunity to greatly enhance the capability of producing more animals using the humane grass finished system. As the farm has grown, systems, techniques, and the latest technology have been added to help improve its stewardship practices, animal well-being, and overall land health.

“Nick always had a deep passion for agriculture and animals. He was determined to turn that love for the land and animals into a successful enterprise; all while also providing healthy, humane and delicious beef for the community,” said his brothers, Dominic and Joe Sergi and Will Sutila. “While our hearts are heavy with his passing and he leaves a huge hole to fill, his legacy will live on in Sergi Farms.”

Sergi Farms was a proud sponsor of the Nick Van Dyke Shamrock Shuffle on March 18th, 2017. Each year the community gathers to remember the spirit of Nick Van Dyke, son, brother, uncle, friend, and giver now forever and always in our hearts. We walk in memory of Nick, of the love he had for others, the selflessness in which he lived day-to-day, and the joy he brought to others’ lives.

The Shamrock Shuffle gives one $1,000 scholarship to an Elkhorn Area High School graduating senior pursuing a career in the automotive industry. Because of the generosity of our supporters and participants we were able to launch our “Spread the Love” campaign, in which our mission is to help families or organizations in the Elkhorn community with special need.

What Our Customers Have to Say

We could talk for hours about how great Sergi Farms beef products are. But, you don't have to take our word for it. Let our happy customers fill you in on why they can't live without our grass fed beef products.

Everything has been amazing.  I recommend you to everyone and plan on purchasing from you for as long as you produce the beef...Please do not forget about me when you get gigantic.  All seriousness it's better than Allen Brother, Omaha, really solid.
As for the beef…. Your strong belief that we have been enjoying it, and the chicken, is right on target....Again, for me, I will simply say that the beef that I have been eating lately that came from Sergi Farms was delicious and that I will NEVER go back to the chain stores for meat! I am now a lifelong and completely satisfied customer of Sergi Farms!!! Happily and proudly so!
I've loved everything I have used the beef in thus far. Top quality... So far I have made seasoned ground beef to be used in any/all dishes.  Secondly, I used ground beef and a skirt steak when making chili, once again tender and tasty.  Finally, I made a Balsamic Glazed slow cooker meal using a Round Roast.  Immediately saw the quality of beef prior to cooking. The roast cooked for about 5hrs and came out incredibly tender. Served with a mushroom risotto.  The meal was the best I have made in a while.I have been very impressed and will continue to support Sergi Farms when my beef needs arise.
This steak reminds me of the ones we got at the farm growing up. All natural, It is awesome!

Loretta Meinel

We have had the stew meat, ground beef and sirloin steaks. Sooo good! We're very pleased.

Kari Schroeder

We have ordered a few variety boxes of beef from Sergi Farms and have shared them with a few of our family members. Excellent quality and very flavorful cuts of beef. The ground meat was also one of the best we have ever had. We are happy to support local farming and Sergi Farms.
